Read the FAQ before buying

Poor. Not until a bracketed footnote to a FAQ did I discover there was no pass through on HDMI ARC input. Avantree deliberately played this little fact down, didn't they. Not only that, the latency on this input was dreadful. Unuseable. So as not to waste my enormously over-priced investment I was required to purchase another DAC with optical pass through (it's gets complicated). Now the Avantree is at the end of the line, serving just as a Bluetooth Tx, something another product at half, or third the price could have done. Ultimately it all comes down to me. The Orbit Pro does what Avantree says it does, it's just that Avantree could be more up front on what it doesn't do. I suppose it is in keeping with the general dishonesty and disingenuous nature of people these days. A trajectory of the west, championed equally by the USA and Europe. Being honest, it doesn't feel good when one has been got. I recommend the product if it does what the buyer wants it to do. However, I don't recommend Avantree, the company. They can stick their promised $15 coupon for this review, even though they asked for an honest one. Maybe, just like so many other words altered by Americans to mean something other than they once did, 'honest' now means 'favourable'. And I don't actually qualify for the coupon reward..., the bribery.

Really not ‘pro’

The range is good, but despite using Aptx enabled equipment and adjusting lip sync delay timers on the TV and/or Freesat receiver the promised lip sync low latency rarely occurs correctly or consistently. The feature allowing two headsets to be connected simultaneously is totally redundant because volume levels cannot be adjusted independently, because different brands of headset/ear-buds have different sensitivity/output levels. Plus two simultaneous users might require different volume levels anyway. So very disappointing for something claiming to have “Pro” features and functionality, which doesn’t appear to be the case, despite being very expensive when compared to other Bluetooth transmitters. Also getting this set up was very difficult and not intuitive. I had spend ages searching the website to discover essential information about turning the TV on first to instigate an HDMI ‘handshake’ with the Orbit ‘Pro’. This information should have been prominently featured in the user manual, as I unnecessarily bought a new HDMI cable, thinking that the one I had wasn’t high spec enough to work. Overall way too expensive for something that promises so much but delivers so little. This is definitely NOT PRO equipment. A good idea badly executed. Very dissatisfied!
