How to Connect Wireless Headphones to SAMSUNG TV?

If you can't hear your TV well and you don't want to blast the volume, connecting wireless headphones to your TV is a good & easy way to let you hear it better.

This can be done on pretty much every SAMSUNG TV, whether it's a Smart TV or not. Some TVs come with built-in Bluetooth capabilities, some don't... either way, we'll help you get it done.

Please check your SAMSUNG user manual to see whether your TV has Bluetooth built-in or not.

If your TV DOES have built-in Bluetooth

1. Get your Bluetooth Headphones into Bluetooth Pairing Mode. The process is slightly different for every headphone model; please refer to its USER MANUAL for more details.

2. Take your SAMSUNG Remote, go into your TV's SETTINGS menu.

3. Find SOUND OUTPUT, go into SPEAKER LIST, SEARCH & SELECT your Headphone to PAIR & CONNECT.

4. Please note that the settings menu may look different in different TV models. Check your SAMSUNG user manual for more details.

5. You can adjust volume directly via your SAMSUNG Remote.

If your TV DOES NOT have built-in Bluetooth

If your TV does NOT have built-in Bluetooth, or if you'd like to connect MORE THAN ONE PAIR of headphones to your TV simultaneously, you'll have to connect using a Bluetooth Audio Adapter, somthing like these:

Avantree Orbit (Learn MoreONLY Bluetooth Transmitter on the market with LCD Screen Display

TC580 orbit

Avantree Audikast Plus (Learn More)

Avantree Oasis Plus (Learn More)

Oasis Plus

With these, you'll be able to:

- Get extended Bluetooth Range.

- Connect up to TWO PAIRS of headphones to your TV (adapter) simultaneously.

- In the case of Oasis Plus, it can be used simultaneously with a SoundBar/Stereo Receiver while sharing ONE Digital Optical Port (See THIS ARTICLE for more details regarding this function.)

Here are the Instructions:

1. Connect your Bluetooth adapter to Power.

2. Connect the Bluetooth adapter to TV. Our adapters support Digital Optical (aka TOSLINK or SPDIF,) 3.5mm Auxiliary (aka Headphones Jack,) and RCA (Red/White) Audio Output Ports. Please see your adapter's user manual for more details.

3. Get your Headphones into pairing mode (Please see your headphone's user manual.)

4. Get your Bluetooth adapter into Bluetooth Pairing mode as well. Please see your user manual if you're not sure how.

5. Keep your the Headphone and the Adapter close to each other until they connect.

6. Once connected, if you're using Digital Optical connection, please go to your TV settings menu and change your Digital Audio Format to PCM.

7. And you'd be good to go!

Here's a video that may give you an idea on Connecting Headphones to SAMSUNG TV.

I have Hspro digital wireless headphones that are not Bluetooth. I can’t connect to RCA Samsung tv outputs. Says not to plug into “AV IN” and that’s the only place. ???
Avantree
July 19, 2021
The "AV IN" is input port, it won't work with your headphone. If you have a newer Samsung TV, you most likely only have the digital optical audio jack. If that's the case, you'll need a digital to analog converter in order to plug your headphones in. Something like our Avantree DAC02 (available on Amazon)

Sure, we have lots of choices that'll work. But first can you give me a little bit more info? - Do you want to have one headphone on each TV? - What type of headphones do you prefer? Over-ear or earbud style? - Are you going to be using the headphones by yourself and yourself only? - Do you have a sound bar or av receiver set up on your TV?

I don't think your sound bar has an output port though. Maybe see the "bypass" function of our Oasis Plus - This video will show you how it works: https://youtu.be/8WLuuOqr9H4

I’ve paired my Avantree plus headphones but I can’t hear anything through my headphones. I also changed the digital output To PCMI. Help please.

I was successful in pairing my BTHT-5009 headset to my Samsung TV when watching Cable TV ONLY. headphones work GREAT under this condition. My cable wire enters my TV thru HDMI1. I have no other port being used. I am using the optical output cable. When I switch over to any of my APPS (netflix, prime video, hulu) the headphones instantly stop working. The OPT light on the receiver starts blinking when it used to be solid. I have the Audio on my Samsung set to PCM. Again works great when watching CABLE TV. Very frustrating!

Hi, you'll need to go into your sound settings and set the audio output format to PCM. Also, check if you have something plugged into your TV's HDMI ARC port. If you do, please unplug it and switch it to another HDMI port.

Will Samsung Galaxy earbuds + work with a 2019 Samsung QE75Q85RATXXU TV. Will the audio delay be a problem? I am told that this TV is only bluetooth version 2 which I find hard to believe.
Avantree
December 19, 2020
It should work just fine. You should be able to adjust audio delay in your audio settings menu if I remember correctly. It's unlikely that a 2019 TV would be Bluetooth 2.0, it's probably 4.2 or up. Nonetheless, Bluetooth is backwards compatibly, no worries.

Hi, Sony's RF400 does NOT use Bluetooth technology so you can't connect it directly to your TV. You'll have to connect the Base that came with RF400 to your TV's audio output port.

Avantree
January 26, 2021
Hi, it depends on the TV. Some TVs allow it some don't. However, we've found that if you use the digital optical output port on your TV as audio output connection to these headphones, you're more likely to get that feature you're looking for.

Not sure what you're asking but... if your headphones are turned off, of course you can't hear through them. Also, most headphones automatically power off when you're charging them, that may answer your question.

I have a Samsung 7series TV. My husband is very hard of hearing. In the past older TV we use headsets that have a long wire and plug into the TV. I don’t see an outlet hole on the new TV. So he can’t use his old head set, which he prefers. The new Bluetooth headsets sound won’t go high enough for him to hear. Even if we turn the TV up loud. So is there some kind of adapter to buy that will connect the headset wire to the TV to plug the headset wire into
Avantree
March 25, 2021
Hi, your new TV likely has a Digital Optical Out port, you can use one of our TV headphones + Adapter combo. The adapter will be plugged into the optical port on your TV, the headphone will work wirelessly. I'd specifically recommend Opera, it is our loudest headphone (louder than all our other products and most products on the market). Link to Opera: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D6GHYD7

Try turning your TV off/on, Bluetooth sometimes can be annoying. Also check in your TV's paired list, maybe you've already successfully paired without you noticing. However, I'll say that TV's built-in Bluetooth usually have not-so-good range and can be annoying like this, perhaps you should consider getting a Bluetooth transmitter? It'll "bypass" your TV's Bluetooth, it's got better range, and you can connect two pairs of headphones to it if you want.

Can I connect my MPOW headset for my Mom who needs them and still have audio from the TV.
Avantree
April 9, 2021
It depends on your TV. Some TV allows two output channels simultaneously, some don't. If you connect the headphones to your TV using a Bluetooth transmitter... and use the TV's optical output jack as audio output to the transmitter, it's more likely to keep the TV speaker working. I'd suggest that you contact Samsung, they may have the better answer.

Hi. I've recently purchased Sony wireless headphones. I have a Samsung smart TV 7 series. The TV picks up the headphones via Bluetooth. But when I go to paint the headphones. I get an error messages saying please ensure device is switched on. The headphones are switched on. Any ideas?
Avantree
April 14, 2021
TV's built-in Bluetooth can be tricky sometimes. I'd suggest that you 1) Check if the headphones' already in the paired list and 2) Factory reset the headphones and try again. Our Bluetooth transmitters offer a way to "bypass" your TV's Bluetooth, also, a transmitter allows you to connect two pairs of headphones at once. This could also be a solution for you. We've found that Bluetooth transmitters are often easier to use than the TV's Bluetooth.

i have a 2020, 49" Q80T QLED TV, and MIFO 07 earbuds. Ive just upgraded from 05s because they didn't charge properly and the volume control did not work. the first earbuds paired easily and worked consistently well with the TV. The new earbuds have amazingly clear sound, but every few days, although the earbuds connect to my TV, I can get no volume. when Samsung support get inside the TV they can make them work again perfectly . unfortunately - even during watching a programme, the volume can be lost. the only way to get it back is via Samsung support. Any ideas as to what is happening? the ear buds work perfectly with my phone and my pc.
Avantree
April 28, 2021
Here are a few possibilities - 1) Your Earbuds disconnected from your TV, which could've been a result of the Bluetooth range. 2) The connection was "stolen" by your phone or PC... or something you've connected the earbuds to before. So remember to turn off Bluetooth on those devices when you'd like to use the earbuds with your TV.

I'm using an Audikast Plus with a non-bluetooth Samsung TV. It's connected to the optical port of the TV. Whenever I turn on the TV, even if the volume on the TV is turned down to nothing and the Mute function is activated, the TV screen display goes to an inverted color with static and the TV audio plays an overwhelmingly LOUD static sound for about a minute, before finally becoming quiet and working properly. Sometime, it will do it more than once before going back to normal. I'm using the Avantree device on a daily basis so as to avoid disturbing someone who is sleeping. Obviously, the TV going to max volume and pumping eardrum bursting static sound into the room defeats that purpose ;) Any help would be much appreciated.

My new Samsung QLED Q90T supports Bluetooth natively. It works without lip sync lag. But it's a pain to switch the sound output from the sound bar to the speaker list, and then select the bluetooth headphones every time I want to switch from sound bar to headphones. It requires digging down through the Samsung settings menus to change the sound output. I have an older headphone, a Sennheiser 900 MHz set that connects to the TV via a Toslink digital optical cable, and then to a small matchbox size optical/analog converter that lets me plug the Sennheiser headphone transmitter in using a standard 1/8 inch plug. This setup allows me to hear both the TV speakers and the headphones simultaneously. And the beauty of this setup is that the audio volume level of the Samsung Toslink optical output port remains constant as the TV volume is turned down. So I'm able to just turn the TV volume down when I want to use just the headphones. There's no need to dig around in the Settings menu to change the output. I want to be able to also use my new Sony bluetooth, noise cancelling headphones. I'm considering buying a Bluetooth transmitter to allow me to use the optical port to connect to the Bluetooth transmitter. But in this scenario I also seem to need an optical splitter to create a second optical port so I can keep the older Sennheiser headphones connected while also connecting the Bluetooth transmitter. Do you know if this is possible? Do I need a powered optical Toslink splitter? I've read that some of these splitters are unreliable. Another option might be to connect the Bluetooth transmitter to the analog "Audio Out" 1/8 inch port on the Sennheiser headphone transmitter. This option would eliminate the need for a second optical port. Any recommendations?
Avantree
May 13, 2021
Not sure why you would need a splitter. If you install a Bluetooth transmitter and connect your Sony headphones to it, its function will overlap with your Sennheiser headphone... in other words you can pretty much put your Sennheiser away. However, if you insist on having them both, I'd recommend our Oasis Plus or Orbit transmitter. Both of them have this "bypass" feature that'll allow your Sennheiser to work with it at the same time (and you don't need another optical port.) The Orbit (or Oasis Plus) have two Optical ports built in, one for input and one for output. You'll connect the input port to your TV (so your TV's signal gets "input" into the transmitter), and you'll connect the output port to your digital/analog converter (which connects to your Sennheiser). They should then all work at the same time. This function is not meant to be used this way but nonetheless it'll work. My sister purchased a Samsung QN65Q80T TV.She is legally deaf therefore likes over ear headphones. She had Sony RF headphones with the 3.5 mm audio plug. Her new tv doesn't have a 3.5 port so no way to use these. My brother bought her some Bluetooth headphones. We paired them. Two problems. They weren't properly syncing with the video Also the were not very load and there was no volume control on the headphones.Looked it up and seems a popular problem with this tv.Now I am afraid of ordering any different headphones.Sny suggestions??
Avantree
May 31, 2021
1) Newer TVs tend to not have 3.5mm ports and have digital optical ports instead. 2) Audio lag tends to happen when you pair Bluetooth headphones directly to the TV. Our suggestion is to return that Bluetooth headphone, and get a Bluetooth headphone + transmitter set instead, such as our Opera. It looks similar to the Sony headphones your sister used to have, and it'll work with your TV without any audio lag (visual will be perfectly synced) Link to Opera: https://avantree.com/opera-bluetooth-headphones-for-tv-watching How to Use Opera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNrCiwiiJfs The Opera is also available on Amazon.
