How to Connect 2 Headphones to ONE Android Phone? Here’s What you Need.

All Smartphones in the market nowadays come with Bluetooth capabilities, meaning that you can connect almost any Bluetooth wireless device directly without any issue: headphones, speakers etc.

However, with these built-in Bluetooth, you can only connect ONE device at a time. So, is it possible to connect TWO Devices to ONE Phone?

Well the answer is YES… but the “How To” is different between Android Phones and iPhones. We’ll focus on Android this time. To connect two Bluetooth Headphones or Speakers to ONE Android phone, you’ll need to first make sure that your Android’s USB Type-C Port outputs audio. You may do so by plugging a wired headphone into the Type-C port (directly or via an adapter).

Once you’ve confirmed that it DOES output audio, you can go ahead and get your hands on a USB-Type C Bluetooth Audio adapter like this…

Before you make the purchase, you’ll want to check the specs and make sure that the adapter CAN handle two devices at once. Most Bluetooth adapters nowadays can do it, but just in case.

How to Connect Two Bluetooth Headphones to ONE Android Phone using an Adapter?

With these Type-C Bluetooth Audio Transmitter Adapters, all you need to do is plug it into the USB-C Port on your Phone and follow the steps below.

1. Usually the adapter powers on when you plug it in.

2. Get the adapter into Bluetooth pairing mode. (See your Adapter’s user manual)

3. Get the 1st pair of Headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode. (See your headphone’s user manual)

4. Give them a few seconds to connect. Once connected, you’d want to give it a test run and see if you can hear anything through the headphones. Run your Spotify or Music app etc.

5. If you can’t hear it, remember to go into your settings menu and set the Adapter as the default audio output device.

6. Once it’s working, you can repeat Step 2 and get the adapter into pairing mode again.

7. Get your 2nd pair of headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode. (See the 2nd headphone’s user manual)

8. Once they’ve connected, you should be able to hear audio through both pairs of headphones at the same time.

And the Microphone? Will both Microphones Work?

Good question, the answer is NOPE, unfortunately. Only the microphone on the 1st pair of headphones will function. The 2nd Headphone will be able to listen in on the conversation but not input – This is a current limitation to Bluetooth technology.

Charging while Using?

The Avantree C51 features “passthrough charging.” While using the adapter, you can still plug your charging cable into the vacant Type-C port on C51 and charge your phone so you’ll never have to worry about your battery running out.
