How to Reset True Wireless Earbuds
Sometimes you’ll need to reset your Bluetooth headphones or earbuds to fix various connectivity and functionality issues. In this article, we’ll quickly summarize what resetting does, what it fixes, and how to do it on various brands and models of true wireless earbuds.
What does resetting my true wireless earbuds do?
Resetting your earbuds clears all previous pairings and restores the default settings, which can sometimes help to resolve common problems, such as the following:
- Connection problems - the earbuds don’t connect properly or the connection is unstable.
- Audio cutting out - intermittent audio dropouts as you listen.
- Unresponsive controls - your earbuds’ touch or button controls stop working.
- Battery & charging issues - inaccurate battery readings or faulty charging.
- Sound quality issues - distorted sound, low volume, etc.
- Stuck in a specific mode - the earbuds become stuck in pairing mode, factory reset mode, or another state.
- General malfunctions - any other unexpected behavior from your earbuds.
How to reset Apple AirPods
For AirPods (1st & 2nd Generation), AirPods Pro, and AirPods Pro 2:
- Place both AirPods in their charging case.
- Close the lid and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Open the lid and press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light on the front flashes amber, then white.
- Your AirPods should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
For AirPods Max:
Press and hold the “Noise Control” button and the Digital Crown for 15 seconds until the LED flashes amber, then white.
How to reset Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2
- Place the earbuds in the charging case and close the lid.
- Wait about 30 seconds and then open the lid once more.
- Press and hold the button on the case for 30 seconds until the LED flashes white, then starts blinking blue.
- Your QuietComfort Earbuds 2 should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
How to reset Sony WF-1000XM5
- Place the earbuds in the charging case. Keep the lid open.
- Press and hold the touch sensor on both earbuds for about 15 seconds or until the earbuds’ LED starts flashing.
- Release the touch sensor when the indicator lights up in red and then turns off.
- Your Sony WF-1000XM5 Truly Wireless earbuds should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
How to reset Jabra Elite 10
- Place the earbuds in the charging case and close the lid.
- Keep the lid closed for about 10 seconds.
- Open the lid and press and hold the left and right buttons simultaneously on both earbuds for 10 seconds until the LED flashes purple.
- Your Jabra Elite 10 earbuds should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
How to reset Sony LinkBuds S
- Place the earbuds in the charging case. Keep the lid open.
- Press and hold the touch sensor on both earbuds for about 15 seconds or until the earbuds’ LED turns off and then starts flashing.
- Your Sony LinkBuds S earbuds should now be reset and ready to connect once more.

- Place the earbuds in the charging case.
- Press and hold the reset button on the charging case for 10 seconds or until the charging case’s LEDs start to scroll and then stay on for 5 seconds.
- Your Anker Soundcore Space A40 earbuds should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
How to reset JBL Vibe Buds
- Place the earbuds in the charging case. Keep the lid open.
- Press and hold the button on the charging case for 10 seconds until the charging case’s LED starts flashing blue.
- Your JBL Vibe Buds earbuds should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
How to reset JLab Audio GO Air POP
- Place the earbuds in the charging case and leave the lid open.
- Quickly tap the touch sensor on both earbuds seven times. The LEDs will flash red and blue.
- Your JLab Audio GO Air POP earbuds should now be reset and ready to connect once more.
How to reset Samsung Galaxy Buds FE
- Place the earbuds in the charging case. Keep the lid open.
- Place the charging case near your phone.
- Open the Galaxy Wearable or Galaxy Buds app on your phone.
- Scroll down to “About earbuds > Reset”
