For TVs, Optical/TOSLINK is the primary direct connection; set the TV audio format to PCM or Stereo. The included 3.5 mm AUX cable can be used with older TVs, computers, monitors, and other devices with a headphone or audio output. HDMI ARC/eARC-only TVs require a compatible HDMI audio extractor.

Can I keep the TV speakers or soundbar on?

It depends on the TV and soundbar connection. Some TVs can play through their speakers while also sending audio through Optical. HDMI ARC/eARC soundbar setups may require a compatible extractor or splitter.
