TV Transmitters for Hearing Aids

It depends on the wireless technology inside your hearing aids. Auracast-enabled hearing aids work with Avantree Auracast TV transmitters, while many Phonak hearing aids use Bluetooth Classic and work with Avantree Bluetooth transmitters.

Auracast is designed for audio broadcasting and can support multiple compatible listeners. Bluetooth Classic works more like pairing regular Bluetooth headphones, usually for one-to-one listening.

You may still have options. Avantree will soon release a Telecoil Auracast receiver, which can work with hearing aids that support telecoil.

Avantree Aura C can also help Auracast-enable iPhone and other devices, so users with older hearing aids may still listen through phone Bluetooth streaming, as long as their hearing aids support Bluetooth audio from the phone.

Many Phonak hearing aids use Bluetooth Classic. For these models, Orbit Pro, Oasis Plus, or Audikast 3 are usually better choices.

In many setups, yes. This depends on your TV audio output. Optical output often allows both the TV speaker and transmitter to work at the same time, but some TVs may require audio setting changes.

You may need an HDMI ARC/eARC audio extractor or a transmitter that supports HDMI ARC, depending on your TV setup.

Some transmitters cannot decode Dolby or surround sound from optical output. Setting your TV to PCM sends a standard stereo signal and helps avoid no-sound issues.
