How to Connect Headphones to Comcast Xfinity TV Wirelessly
There are currently a variety of Xfinity (Comcast) Cable boxes (streaming devices) on the market, they'll all be covered in this article.
So, Can I Connect Headphones to Xfinity TV? Or Can I connect my Bluetooth headphones to my Xfinity TV?
Well, you’ve guessed it, yes you can.
Connecting a pair of headphones to your Comacst Xfinity TV not only allows you to hear it better without disturbing others, but also gives you the liberty to move around your house and not miss out on anything.
Anyway, there are a few different ways to do it.
1. Built-in Bluetooth on Xfinity Cable Box.
2. Use a Bluetooth Transmitter on TV.
3. Use a Bluetooth Transmitter on Xfinity Cable Box.
In this article, we’ll walk you through all of them in detail and help you hear your Comcast Xfinity TV through your favorite pair of headphones.
Method 1: Use Xfinity's Built-in Bluetooth
Please this method can only be used on certain Xfinity TV devices; not all Xfinity Cable Boxes come with Bluetooth capability. Also, this method only allows you to connect ONE pair of Bluetooth headphones at once; if you want to connect more headphones, you'll need to go with method 2 or method 3.
Anyway, if your Xfinity device comes with built-in Bluetooth, you'll be able to find a "Bluetooth Devices" connection menu under Xfinity's Audio settings menu. It looks something like this.
To do so, first get your Bluetooth Headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode (Please refer to your user manual. Powering on the headphones DOES NOT equal to pairing mode!), search & select the headphone in your Xfinity Bluetooth Devices menu to connect, and you should be good to go.
Method 2: Use a Bluetooth Transmitter on TV
Method 2 can also be used on any TV, Bluetooth adapters can easily be found and purchased. They look something like this:
With a Bluetooth adapter, you’ll basically be able to add Bluetooth capabilities to your TV and connect your Bluetooth TV headphones and/or speakers to them.
Other benefits of using a Bluetooth transmitter include:
- Able to connect two Bluetooth headphones/speakers at the same time.
- No audio lag when used with headphones that support aptX low latency.
- Some models even support simultaneous audio output through the headphones (that are paired to the transmitter) AND your Sound Bar/AV Receiver… thus “bypassing” the issue where some TVs automatically get muted when something’s plugged into their audio output jacks.
Setting up a Bluetooth adapter is quite straight forward; you’ll plug the Bluetooth adapter into your TV’s audio output port, and Bluetooth “Pair” your Bluetooth headphones to the adapter.
There are Headphone + Adapter combos available so you don’t have to purchase them separately. A combo is even easier to use because the headphone is already connected to the adapter, all you’ll have to do is connect the adapter to your TV!

Method 3: Use a Bluetooth Transmitter Directly on Xfinity Box
This method is pretty much identical to Method 2, but instead, you plug the Bluetooth Transmitter directly into your Xfinity Box's Audio Output port.
The Audio output ports are located on the back of your Xfinity Box; you may either use Digital Optical, Red/White RCA (Needs to have "AUDIO OUT" label), or 3.5mm AUX.
Setting up a Bluetooth adapter on your Xfinity Box is quite straight forward; you’ll plug the Bluetooth adapter into the audio output port, and Bluetooth “Pair” your Bluetooth headphones to the adapter. Finally, go into the Audio settings menu of your Xfinity TV, set the Digital Audio Output format to STEREO.
