How to Connect Bluetooth Headphones to Xbox ONE?

by Avantree Support 17 Apr 2024

Unlike PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, Xbox One does not support USB audio output, so you can't use one of those USB Transmitter Adapter dongles to connect your Bluetooth gaming headset...

However, There's still a way to do it. What Xbox One DOES have is a Digital Optical Audio Output, a.k.a. SPDIF or TOSLINK... so if you have a Bluetooth adapter that supports Optical audio, you'll be able to connect your AirPods or Galaxy Buds or whatever Bluetooth headphone you may have... to the Xbox ONE!

The port is located on the back of your Xbox One, labeled "SPDIF."

And the "adapters" look something like this:

Avantree Audikast Plus (Learn More)

Avantree Oasis Plus (Learn More)

Oasis Plus

BUT! There's a downside to this...

The Digital Optical port is for audio OUTPUT only. In other words, you won't be able to use your microphone and do in-game chats... all you can do is listen.

Perhaps... something to look forward to on the next generation of Xbox?
