Interactive User Guide · Voyager / TC228

Send airplane audio to the headphones you already own.

Voyager plugs into a 3.5 mm audio source, then transmits sound to one classic Bluetooth headphone or to multiple compatible Auracast receivers.

First, know what connects to what

Voyager is the transmitter.

Your listening deviceHeadphones, earbuds, receiver

Do not look for Voyager in your phone's normal Bluetooth menu. Pair your headphones directly to Voyager, or join its Auracast broadcast from a compatible receiver.

Start setup

Choose how you want to listen.

This choice changes the steps below. If you are unsure, choose Bluetooth for AirPods, Bose, Sony, or other standard Bluetooth headphones.

STEP 1 OF 4 · BLUETOOTH

Put your headphones in pairing mode.

Turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones and computers first. Simply turning headphones on is not enough—they must be in pairing mode.

Choose your headphones

Choose your headphone brand.
The correct pairing instructions will appear here.
STEP 1 OF 4 · AURACAST

Confirm every listener supports Auracast.

Look for Auracast or Bluetooth LE Audio support in each headphone, hearing aid, speaker, or receiver.

Auracast
Standard

Choose the right path

  • Auracast headphones / speakers: use Standard mode.
  • Auracast hearing aids: choose Hearing aids mode.
  • Classic Bluetooth headphones: return to Bluetooth setup; they cannot join the broadcast.
Important: phone support for Auracast does not automatically make ordinary Bluetooth headphones compatible.

Fix a problem

Find the screen state, then take one action.

Each fix includes what to recognize, what to do, and what success looks like.

?Stuck on “Searching”
  1. Confirm Voyager is in Bluetooth mode, not Auracast mode.
  2. Put the headphones into pairing mode, not only powered on.
  3. Turn off Bluetooth on devices the headphones used before.
  4. Hold Voyager's middle button for 2 seconds.

Success: the headphone name appears and can be selected.

×Connected to the wrong device
  1. Press the middle button once to disconnect the selected device.
  2. Turn off the unwanted nearby Bluetooth device.
  3. Use + / − to highlight the exact headphone name, then press the middle button once.

Success: the correct name shows Connected.

Pairing history needs clearing
  1. Power on Voyager.
  2. Press and hold + and together for 6 seconds.
  3. Release when the screen resets and returns to Searching.

Success: all saved pairings are erased and Voyager is ready for a fresh connection.

2Two headphones will not connect

Bluetooth mode supports one headphone only. For two classic Bluetooth headphones, use a dual-link transmitter such as Relay or SoundJet R1. Voyager can serve multiple listeners only when every receiver supports Auracast.

No sound or low volume
  1. Confirm the OLED screen says Connected or Broadcasting.
  2. Push the 3.5 mm plug fully into the source's headphone / audio-out jack.
  3. Start playback and raise volume at the source first, then Voyager, then the headphones.
  4. Try another known working 3.5 mm source to isolate the issue.
Power or charging questions
  • Charge through USB-C with a 5 V / 2 A rated USB charger.
  • A full charge takes about 2 hours.
  • Typical playtime is up to 15 hours.
  • If there is no charging response, try another USB power source and cable before escalating.
AAuracast receiver cannot find Voyager
  1. Verify the receiver itself supports Auracast / LE Audio.
  2. Stop calls or media already streaming to the receiver.
  3. Slide Voyager to Auracast mode and confirm Broadcasting.
  4. Double-press the middle button to match Standard or Hearing aids.
  5. Open Find and Join Broadcast, then choose Voyager.
Firmware update will not start
  1. Install Avantree Updater for Windows or macOS from the official firmware page.
  2. Use a USB data cable, not a charge-only cable.
  3. Connect Voyager directly to the computer and follow the updater.
  4. After updating, restart Voyager and the headphones, then pair again.
